Bringing Home and Caring for a Premature Baby

When your little bundle arrives earlier than expected (Before 37 weeks) there’s both a wave of joy and concern that can be a little tricky to navigate. At Huggies we understand the unique needs of your little fighter and we’ve got you both covered with Little Snugglers for them and supporting advice for you.

Your baby may weigh less than full term babies (around 1.5kg), and need a little more care, but rest assured you’ll both grow stronger and more confident every day on your journey. Remember, you’re not alone, 1 in 8 babies are born preterm in South Africa so there’s a wealth of knowledge to tap into.

First things first, your tiny miracle may need to spend some time in the NICU, but don’t worry, they’re in good hands. The NICU is designed to provide baby with the perfect environment to progress their sensory and neurological development. While they take time to get used to the world, take your time and brush up on some prem tips to prepare for their big homecoming.

Every smile, every milestone will feel like a victory, and we’ve put together some advice from parents who’ve been on the same incredible journey, so you and your littlest can get a head start and grow stronger together.
